As the Jasper County Health Department has notified us that we are now at a medium to high rate of community spread (for the first time since the pandemic began, I might add), Faith Lutheran will be making some changes in an effort to keep our church a safe place for people to visit during this time.
We have no plans to cancel services. We will NOT fear this virus, but we will also not test the Lord’s protection or ignore our responsibility to our community. To that end …
- Be mindful of yourself. If you’re not feeling well, STAY HOME. If you have symptoms, get tested.
- If you do not feel comfortable coming to church during this time, STAY HOME. You can connect with our services and Bible classes any time via our Youtube channel. We will miss you, but for those who remain in Christ, ANY time apart is only temporary.
- Be mindful of others. Wear a mask when you’re around other people (including here at church), and wash your hands.
We are also going to be making a few changes here at church …
- Please remember to seat your family group every other pew, sticking to either end as much as possible, to maintain distance.
- Wear a face covering as much as possible. This doesn’t apply to young children or those for whom breathing is difficult under normal conditions. Those who can safely and reasonably ‘mask up!’ will do so for those who cannot.
- We will suspend offering any snacks or refreshments for the foreseeable future to encourage everyone to remain diligent.
- The Sunday morning Bible class will be held in the Sanctuary to allow us to spread out more.
- In-person Confirmation classes will be suspended for the time being, with content being delivered virtually instead. Pastor Brett will contact those families with more information soon.
As was shared on our Facebook page yesterday, always remain mindful of our God …
Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have given me relief when I was in distress. Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
Psalm 4 (ESV)
O men, how long shall my honor be turned into shame? How long will you love vain words and seek after lies?
But know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him.
Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent.
Offer right sacrifices, and put your trust in the LORD.
There are many who say, “Who will show us some good?
Lift up the light of your face upon us, O LORD!”
You have put more joy in my heart than they have when their grain and wine abound.
In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
If you have any questions or concerns about any of this, please feel free to contact Pastor Brett Satkowiak directly.
